Board Member

Position Summary:

As a Board Member for Millennial Education, you will play a crucial role in guiding and supporting the Non-Profit Organization to achieve its mission. This volunteer position requires a commitment to active participation, financial stewardship, and advocacy to advance our programs and initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Mission & Knowledge: Understand and support the organization's mission, policies, programs, and needs. Regularly review and comprehend the organization’s financial statements.

  2. Advocacy & Fundraising: Actively advocate and serve as an ambassador for the organization. Engage in identifying and securing financial resources and partnerships. Leverage personal connections, networks, and resources to support the organization’s mission. Provide a meaningful personal financial donation. Identify and connect with potential donors and influential contacts to enhance fundraising efforts and reputational standing.

  3. Board Participation: Prepare for, attend, and actively participate in board meetings. Participate fully in one or more committees (e.g., Fundraising, Marketing & Communications, Strategic Planning, Programs). Attend at least one Millennial Education event per year.

  4. Governance & Compliance: Follow the organization's bylaws, policies, and board resolutions. Sign an annual conflict-of-interest disclosure and update it as necessary. Maintain confidentiality regarding all internal matters of the organization.

  5. Legal Duties:

    1. Duty of Care: Ensure prudent use of all assets, including facilities, people, and goodwill.

    2. Duty of Loyalty: Ensure that the organization’s activities and transactions prioritize its mission, disclose conflicts of interest, and make decisions in the best interest of the nonprofit.

    3. Duty of Obedience: Ensure the organization complies with applicable laws and regulations, adheres to its bylaws, and remains true to its stated mission.

Volunteer Commitment:

  • Contribute 30-40 volunteer service hours yearly.

  • Adhere to the Board Give/Get Pledge.
